Denmark is a long way from Malaysia, but well connected once you arrive, and Copenhagen is one of the easiest European cities to get into from the airport.
Flying from Malaysia
There are no direct flights between Malaysia and Denmark. From Kuala Lumpur (KUL), the usual options are one-stop connections via Middle Eastern hubs (such as Doha, Dubai or Abu Dhabi), via major European hubs (such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Istanbul or London), or via Asian hubs. Total travel time is typically in the region of 15–20 hours depending on the routing and layover. Copenhagen Airport (CPH), in Kastrup, is Denmark's main international gateway and one of the busiest in the Nordics.
From the airport into Copenhagen
Copenhagen Airport is unusually close to the city. The Metro (line M2) runs directly from the airport into the city centre in around 15 minutes, around the clock, with trains every few minutes. Mainline and regional trains and buses also serve the airport. Buy a ticket from the machines or the official app before boarding.
Getting around Denmark
- Trains (DSB). Denmark's national rail network links Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus, Aalborg and most towns. Copenhagen to Aarhus takes roughly three hours. Book ahead for cheaper "Orange" fares.
- The Øresund Bridge. Trains run across the bridge to Malmö in Sweden in about 35–40 minutes, making it easy to combine the two countries.
- Within cities. Copenhagen has an integrated Metro, S-train, bus and harbour-bus system on one ticket; consider a City Pass or the sightseeing-focused Copenhagen Card.
- Cycling. Denmark is one of the world's great cycling countries, with safe, separated bike lanes. Renting a bike is often the nicest way to see a city.
- Driving. Roads are excellent and well-signed; note that some bridges (like the Storebælt and Øresund) carry tolls.
Journey times are approximate, based on general knowledge. Metro frequency, fares, passes and toll prices change, so confirm with DSB, the Copenhagen transport authority and official airport sources before travel.
