On the islet of Slotsholmen in central Copenhagen, Christiansborg Palace is the seat of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget), the Supreme Court, and the Prime Minister's Office, and also holds the Royal Reception Rooms used by the monarch.
That combination makes it unique: the only building in the world that houses a country's executive, legislative and judicial powers together. Visitors can tour the lavish Royal Reception Rooms, the ruins of earlier castles beneath the building, the royal stables and kitchens.
Best of all, the palace tower, the tallest in Copenhagen, is free to visit, with some of the finest panoramic views over the city.
